New Company Provides Nutritional Option for Improving Eye Health

LifeGuard Health, the leader in condition specific Omega-3 products announced today that it has launched a new subsidiary, Omega Eye Health.

Plymouth Meeting, PA (Bluehost/PRWEB ) September 4, 2008 -- LifeGuard Health, the leader in condition specific Omega-3 products announced today that it has launched a new subsidiary, Omega Eye Health. Kenneth A. Krieg has been named the Chief Executive Officer and Robert D. Bauer has been named President. This company will be co-located with Lifeguard's corporate headquarters in Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania.

Omega Eye Health will offer specialty 3 nutritional supplements targeted for eye health. The new company will recruit a national roster of prominent eye care physicians to serve as an appointed Medical Advisory Panel (MAP).

Omega Eye Health will distinguish itself by offering its specially formulated eye care products exclusively to ophthalmologists and optometrists. Several medical studies suggest a higher consumption of Omega-3 fish oil is beneficial for several eye conditions. Omega Eye Health will use this growing body of medical evidence to support its product development strategy.(1)

Recent studies from the National Eye Institute in Bethesda, MD found that a higher intake of Omega-3 docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) was associated with a decreased risk of having neovascular Age-Related Macular Degeneration.

Additional clinical research also supports findings that the Omega-3 eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), a natural anti-inflammatory, reduces systemic inflammation, a contributing factor to the irritation and discomfort associate with dry eye syndrome.

Statistics show that over 20 million people suffer from dry eye and that dry eye is the most common complaint when visiting an eye care professional. Additionally, the company is targeting the fast-growing market demand to provide a nutritional alternative to the leading cause of blindness in America - Age Related Macular Degeneration.

Omega Eye Health products, as with all LifeGuard Health products, are manufactured in Triglyceride (TG) form for maximal absorption and bioavailability.
