Second City Style and W Chicago Host SCS's 3 Year Anniversary "Fashion Birthday Bash"

Award winning online fashion magazine champions the Chicago fashionista and independent designers to a global audience.

Chicago (PRWEB) September 4, 2008 -- In partnership with W Chicago, Second City Style will host an Anniversary event on Thursday, September 18th, 2008 at the W Chicago - City Center location from 6pm to 8pm. The event celebrates three years of the best in fashion & beauty reporting. Second City Style, launched first as an online fashion magazine, and has recently expanded to include a blog and an online boutique showcasing independent designers. "After three years we wanted to thank our readers in Chicago for their support with an upscale, fashion inspired birthday party. We wanted to meet them in person as the Internet is obviously impersonal," say Lauren Dimet Walters, Co-Founder and Editor and Chief.

Attendees will experience an array of decadent sweets, fun fashion inspired party games, hors d'oeuvres and Midori cocktails. The designers of the SecondCityStore.com Store will be on hand to mingle with the crowd and give guests a peek at must-haves for fall. The store, launched a year and a half ago, was born out of the desire to connect with their national audience. "Since many of our readers are from all over the country and world we felt there was a great opportunity to showcase some of the amazing talent in our local designers, we created Second City Store. In addition to Chicago based designers, we have added some designers from NY," says Carol Calacci, Co-Founder and Managing Editor. During the event, guests will also have an opportunity to purchase select items at the onsite boutique, taking their online shopping experience live.

Millions of readers trust Second City Style's daily dose of fashion musings, international headlines and premier shopping. Voted 2006 Best Fashion Blog by Glam.com (largest women's site online) and one of two Best Fashion Website in Chicago Magazine's 2008 "Top 171 Websites", the site has become a online destination for fashionable women around the globe. "We came up with this crazy idea to challenge the women of Chicago to step it up a notch when it comes to fashion. What better way than with an online magazine? So in September of 2005 we launched SecondCityStyle.com. The e-zine is published once a week and and is written by a staff of contributing writers. The blog came about a year later because we had a lot more to say. Thus the creation of the blog. And the rest, as they say, is history. Now we have readers who contact us from Malaysia, Northwest Canada, Europe and everywhere else," says Lauren.

The event is free to the public. Additional event and rsvp information is available at www.secondcitystyle.com.
