Voxbone, a leading provider of local telephone numbers and VoIP transport, today announced the opening of its new Asia Pacific headquarters in Singapore. At the same time, Voxbone also announced the appointment of Lee Tian Yew as vice president for Asia Pacific to direct its sales, business development and operations in the region.
Furthermore, Voxbone said it had received licenses to operate in both Japan and Hong Kong. Voxbone now operates in 44 countries and 5,000 cities globally.
"We are bullish about the explosive growth in new applications due to the pervasiveness of broadband and the increase in access speeds, particularly in APAC countries," said Rodrigue Ullens, CEO and co-founder of Voxbone. "With his considerable experience in international communications, Tian Yew will be a significant asset to Voxbone as we continue our global expansion."
Tian Yew comes to Voxbone with more than 15 years' experience, most recently with Singapore-based Pacific Internet (now PacNet), where he built a team that implemented SIP broadband telephony across eight countries in Asia. He began his career at SingTel and had held various senior management positions at VSNL, Teleglobe and Mediaring.
"We want to replicate in APAC the success we've achieved in the European and U.S. markets," said Tian Yew. "Through Voxbone's on-demand DID number services and real-time platform, service providers can now offer a cost effective, seamless, reliable, ubiquitous and easy-to-use solution for end users. We make the convergence of fixed, mobile and VoIP an immediate reality."
"We selected Singapore as our regional base for expansion in APAC because the country is one of the major telecommunications hub in the region," added Ullens. "Likewise, Singapore's regulatory structure is R&D-friendly and the government places strong emphasis on new technology, as evident in nationwide initiatives such as municipal outdoor broadband access, full number portability and NGN networks, to name a few."
Voxbone services, which include DID (direct inward dialing) and toll-free numbers are deployed by mobile operators, PSTN carriers, VoIP providers, call center operators and NGN service providers worldwide. Voxbone is a recognized member of the International Telecommunication Union and part of the study group that is responsible for numbering standardization around the world.
Headquartered in Brussels, Belgium, Voxbone provides worldwide DID numbers and toll-free phone numbers over its own private intercontinental VoIP network. The all-IP architecture of the Voxbone core network enables customers to rapidly deploy new communications services with local presence, while simultaneously reducing costs. It delivers high-quality call origination from 44 countries and 5,000 cities and provides the global infrastructure that enables its customers to expand to international markets quickly and efficiently. Founded in 2002, the company is privately held. For more information, visit http://www.voxbone.com.
