Successfully Integrating Partner Companies After An Acquisition To Ensure Continued Productivity

Alex Scott, Vice President, Business Development at Eisai Corporation of North America, oversees business development activities for all Eisai companies in the United States, specifically targeting opportunities in Eisai's three areas of therapeutic focus - neurology, gastrointestinal disorders, and oncology/critical care. Mr. Scott joined Eisai in 1992 as Manager of Corporate Affairs at Eisai Corporation of North America. Before assuming his current role, he held several positions of increasing responsibility in Corporate Affairs, Planning and Business Development within Eisai U.S. operations. During this time, Mr. Scott helped craft Eisai's U.S. globalization strategy and establish a commercial infrastructure, negotiating global alliances with Pfizer and PriCara®, a division of Ortho-McNeil-Janssen Pharmaceuticals for Aricept® (donepezil hydrochloride tablets) and Aciphex®/Pariet® (rabeprazole sodium) tablets, respectively. Both products, discovered and developed by Eisai, have realized billion-dollar status in the United States. Scott's presentation on October 6, 2008, "Successfully Integrating Partner Companies After An Acquisition To Ensure Continued Productivity" will establish how this industry leading company incorporated key elements of success in post-merger integrations.

Highlights of the keynote presentation will include:

•Assessing the strategic value of an M&A deal
•Addressing potential integration challenges
•Sharing best practices: looking at the successes of Eisai's recent acquisitions of MGI PHARMA, INC. and Morphotek, Inc.
