Local Search Technology Platform Recognized Among Top Canadian Ventures for its Innovation and Business Opportunity

This award nomination comes as no surprise, as we have long thought that Praized Media is one of the most exciting Web 2.0 start-ups in Canada

Red Herring Magazine has named Praized Media, the first distributed local search platform for social media, a finalist for the "Red Herring Top 50 Canada" award. The prestigious award recognizes Praized Media as one of this year's most promising private technology ventures in Canada. Red Herring selected the company for its technology innovation, quality of management, execution of strategy and integration into the local search ecosystem.

Praized was founded by a team of social media experts and local search technology veterans from Yellow Pages Group who launched the local search platform this summer. Praized provides the tools for social media publishers to capture conversations about local places and merchants occurring in their communities and gives users a simple way to search, discover and chat with folks who share similar interests.

"We are thrilled to be chosen as a finalist in the Red Herring Canada Top 50 awards, as it reinforces our innovative approach to integrating local search technology and the power of social media," said Harry Wakefield, chief executive officer at Praized Media. "Social media is changing the way that people discover and discuss local places and merchants, and it's apparent that consumers prefer to turn to folks that share similar interests for their opinions and recommendations. Praized's platform enables any blog or online community to create a unique local search experience that will capture conversations and deliver local information that is relevant to its users."

"This award nomination comes as no surprise, as we have long thought that Praized Media is one of the most exciting Web 2.0 start-ups in Canada," says Paul Dawalibi, Principal at Garage Technology Ventures Canada.

Red Herring Canada evaluated several hundred nominees based on quantitative and qualitative criteria such as financial performance, technology innovation, and execution of strategy to determine the greatest business opportunities in the industry. The top 50 winners will be announced at the Red Herring Canada event to be held in Mont-Tremblant September 15-17 at the Fairmont Mont-Tremblant.
