The Chuckie Goodnight Foundation For The Environment today announced the organization's first Earth Day Everyday Contest. The not-for-profit foundation is seeking children ages five to 14 to submit drawings with environmental themes for publication in the 2009 Chuckie Goodnight Foundation For The Environment Earth calendar.

Drawings will be accepted until October 15, 2008. Twelve winning artists will have their drawings featured in the 2009 Chuckie Goodnight Foundation For The Environment Earth calendar. They will also win a copy of the Calendar and a tote bag filled with organic prizes from My Earth Too! All entrants will receive a free membership to the Chuckie Goodnight Foundation For The Environment Club.

To embrace its motto, "It's your Earth and My Earth Too. Let's make every day Earth Day. Please be kind to Mother Earth," the foundation aims to help children understand the importance of appreciating Earth everyday, not just on Earth Day. Founded in 2001, the organization focuses on environmental causes; educating children on Earth stewardship, preserving green spaces, awarding scholarships to those who pursue environmental studies and more.

"The contest will give children the opportunity to express themselves by showing how and why they are passionate about and care for Earth. I'm looking forward to seeing all of the creative and original ideas coming from children who can contribute to why we should celebrate Earth Day everyday," said founder, Cherie Ingraham.

Artwork ideas can include, but are not limited to: how we can help the Earth; why the entrant cares about Earth and what he or she does to show it; what the entrant enjoys most about nature; wildlife, scenery and landscapes; water and more.

Submissions will be judged on originality, creativity, imagination, reflection on the contest theme, use of color and materials, and appropriateness. Winners will be announced on November 1, 2008.

The contest entry form, complete list of guidelines and more information can be found on the organization's website, http://www.chuckiegoodnightfoundation.org.
