Skokie, Ill. (PRWEB) September 6, 2008
More than 1000 pieces of Royal Doulton, Lladro and Moorcroft Art Pottery will be on display at the Chicago Collectors Weekend hosted by Miami, Fla.-based Pascoe and Company in conjunction with the American Toby Jug Museum, located in Evanston.
The program, which is open to the public, takes place September 26, 27 and 28 at the Hampton Inn, 5201 Old Orchard Road in Skokie, Ill. The event will showcase Royal Doulton figurines; Character Jugs; Lambeth and Burslem Art Wares; Lladro figurines and Moorcroft Art Pottery. Experts will provide presentations and discussions, including several led by Louise Irvine, a British historian, author and internationally-known expert who is traveling from London.
Making its U.S. debut is a new collection celebrating Moorcroft's senior designer, Rachel Bishop. She has been working on the largest solo collection ever created by a Moorcroft designer. The result is "A New Forest Collection," a selection of designs that vary widely in color, subject matter and style. Each piece represents a year of her unbroken design service given to Moorcroft and is named after a woodland park in England where she grew up.
"We are thrilled to be the first show in the United States to display the new Moorcroft collection. These pieces are stunning and exemplify the beauty and attention to detail that Bishop brings to her designs," says Ed Pascoe, founder of Pascoe and Company. "We look forward to hosting this event and meeting with collectors and enthusiasts from the Chicagoland area."
Another highlight of weekend will be a guided tour of the American Toby Jug Museum in Evanston, which features the largest collection of Toby Jugs in the world. It will be hosted by the museum's founder and curator, Stephen Mullins, noted expert and author. His latest book, A Century of Royal Doulton Character and Toby Jugs, which was co-authored by David C. Fastenau with an introduction by Irvine, is due out November of 2008.
According to Pascoe, the extensive collection amassed by Mullins is one of the main reasons the Chicago area was selected to host the show.
The show kicks off on Friday night with a reception from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Hampton Inn. The show runs from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday and 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is free. For more details visit http://www.pascoeandcompany.com; to RSVP to the reception, e-mail Veronica@pascoeandcompany or call 305.326.0060 x123.
