Worldwide One-Stop of Music, Movies and Games, Super D, Expands the Sales Team and Names Pip Smith Import Sales Manager

The new position will focus on driving sales of all audio and video import products, via traditional retail outlets, digital distribution and direct to consumer.

Super D, the fastest growing entertainment media wholesaler in the world and the home of SDID, the winner of this year's NARM Small Distributor of the Year award, today introduced Pip Smith as the Sales Manager of Imports. The new position will focus on driving sales of all audio and video import products, via traditional retail outlets, digital distribution and direct to consumer.

Super D boasts the largest selection of Music, Movies and Games with current in-stock selections of more than 408,841 total sku's in-stock and 190,547 import sku's in-stock.

Bringing thousands of titles from around the globe, Super D imports from over 100 suppliers with unique products, from more than 20 countries.

"Pip's 30 years of experience in the industry; ranging from working with retailers, one-stops, distribution and labels, works well with our diverse account base and a was a key factor in adding another all-star to our Super D sales team. I am very excited to have another key sales manager on our team to help us focus on our growing selection of our import products," said Bobby Miranda, Vice President of Sales at Super D.

2008 marks 30 years in the music business for Pip. His history dates back to 1978 at Odyssey Records a West Coast retail chain. He spent some years as a buyer for a regional rack jobber in his hometown of Baltimore, Maryland, and enjoyed a brief but fun time in Norfolk, Va. running a cash and carry style One Stop.

In 1985, Pip was hired as GM for Schwartz Brothers and was trained in music distribution by Jim Schwartz, a legend in the music industry. In 1992, he was recruited by Rykodisc and Rounder Records to help form what is now Ryko Distribution.

Pip spent 7 years at Valley Media as Director of Sales for DNA. Valley was ahead of the curve in the area of internet and "just in time" fulfillment and combining these strengths with label distribution created value for all parties.

Most recently Pip was the Director of Sales to National Accounts for Welk Music.
