Science Buddies Winner of a Parents' Choice Recommended Award

Science Buddies (www.sciencebuddies.org), the premier online provider of science project resources for students in grades K-12, was honored with a 2008 Parents' Choice Recommended Award in the website category.

Carmel, CA (PRWEB) September 10, 2008 -- Science Buddies ( http://www.sciencebuddies.org ), the premier online provider of science project resources for students in grades K-12, was honored with a 2008 Parents' Choice Recommended Award in the website category. The Parents' Choice Awards program received many strong entries this season; Science Buddies was among the small percentage selected to receive the honor.

Science Buddies was launched in 2001 with the goal of improving science literacy by encouraging more hands-on science inquiry in the classroom. Working closely with educators, Science Buddies develops free tools for students and teachers, such as the Topic Selection Wizard, an online survey that recommends project ideas to students; over 700 project ideas covering 27 different areas of science; an online question-and-answer forum; classroom handouts; grading rubrics; and many more.

"We feel honored to have received a 2008 Parents' Choice Recommended Award," said Ken Hess, Founder of Science Buddies. "Science Buddies has worked very hard to develop unique online tools and resources to help students and teachers doing science projects. This award is a wonderful acknowledgment of the quality of the materials that we have developed."

Established in 1978, Parents' Choice is the nation's oldest nonprofit guide to quality children's media and toys. The Foundation's mission is to provide parents with information to participate wisely in their children's learning outside the classroom. The Parents' Choice Awards program honors the best material for children: books, toys, music and storytelling, magazines, software, video games, television, and websites. Parents' Choice Foundation's panels of educators, scientists, performing artists, librarians, parents and, yes, kids themselves, identify the very best products for children of different ages and backgrounds, and of varied skill and interest levels.
