New Hospital Emergency Standard Requires Emergency Communications Strategies

Mobile Health Tech Enables Hospitals to Rapidly Notify Staff and Community via Text, Email and Voice Messages

Clark, NJ (PRWEB) September 9, 2008 -- The Joint Commission's new standard EC.4.13 now requires hospitals to establish emergency communications strategies, including backup communications processes. Mobile Health Tech (MHT), the healthcare division of Gold Mobile, offers a comprehensive solution to help hospitals comply with these new standards in preparation for upcoming audits. The MHT Hospital Rapid Notification Alert System™ enables hospitals to send mass emergency communications to staff, external authorities, patients, families and vendors via text, email and voice alerts.

"Hospitals will be audited this year and need to be sure to have an executable and testable strategy in place," advised Bob Gold, CEO of Gold Mobile and MHT, "When your organization faces a time-sensitive or critical situation, timely reach and mobilization - whether it's to staff, patients, media or the community - is the key to public safety. Because people are mobile, your emergency communications also need to be mobile."

Easy to Implement Rapid Notification

To help assure timely message delivery, the MHT Hospital Rapid Notification Alert System allows any hospital to communicate emergency alerts via cell phone (text/SMS), email, voice messages or all three. With the MHT Hospital Rapid Notification Alert System, recipients register online or via mobile phone and can select their preferred method(s) of contact. Messages can be timed and segmented by administrators so that staff, authorities, patients and vendors get contacted with appropriate messages. Hospital staff, such as Physicians, Nurses and Administrative personnel can also get a different message and at different times if need be.

The secure web-based system can be accessed from any PC with a web connection and integrated with existing HIS and Hospital database systems. In most cases, the system can be up and operational in 48 hours. Since the system is web-based, it's easy to maintain and provides complete delivery reports of all communications.

The MHT Hospital Rapid Notification Alert System provides a solution (process and platform) to meet these standards by addressing the following requirements:

  • EP #2- Communicating information to staff members once response efforts begin
  • EP #4- Communicating information to external authorities once response efforts begin
  • EP #5- Communicating with patients and their families during emergencies
  • EP #7- Communicating with vendors during emergencies
  • Reporting on the above communications post emergency
