Gaylord Texan Presents a Texas-Size Christmas

Exquisite ice carvings, brilliant holiday lights, enchanting trains, towering Christmas trees, elegant décor... and jolly ol' St. Nick

Beginning November 14th, 2008, through January 3rd, 2009, the fourth annual Lone Star Christmas event hosted by Gaylord Texan Resort will offer a variety of festive activities, entertainment, and displays to celebrate the season.


This year, the resort will invite visitors inside to enjoy a delightful winter wonderland featuring 1.2 million lights and 20 seven-foot ornaments strung from the top of its glass roof; a 50-foot rotating Christmas tree; magical train sets winding through 1,000 feet of track; a life-size gingerbread house made from 5,000 square feet of gingerbread; Santa's workshop including a cookie conveyor belt and control station; and dozens of lavish holiday displays including 2,300 feet of garland, 5,600 wreaths, and 10,000 ornaments.

A variety of amusing holiday entertainers will also be present and include Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus, live reindeer, toy soldier stilt walkers, singing cowboys, and more.

On Friday, November 14th, 2008, the resort will kick off Christmas with an impressive Lone Star Christmas Lighting Ceremony sponsored by Reliant Energy. When the Texas sun sets and its winter skies go dark, Gaylord Texan's 1.2 million twinkling lights will turn on! After the exciting ceremony, guests are invited to stroll through the resort atriums to enjoy the extraordinary holiday decorations and entertainment. The event is complimentary to the public, and those who spend $25 or more in a resort restaurant or retail shop will receive validated self-parking.


The truly spectacular 14,000-square-foot "ICE!" exhibit, presented by Coca-Cola and sponsored by Nissan, Reliant Energy, and Sylvania, will feature a variety of magical holiday scenes and sculptures hand-carved by 40 visiting artisans from Harbin, China.

Visitors will feel as though they have been transported to the North Pole as they bundle up in warm parkas and enter this winter wonderland created with TWO MILLION pounds of ice and kept at a wintry 9 degrees.

This year, "ICE!" will showcase several new additions including Old Man Winter blowing snow, dazzling colored ornaments, a winter forest with an ice skating pond, a life-size Santa's lap to sit on, a candy land full of tempting treats, and an entertaining animal band.

Returning favorites will include the thrilling ice slides, 25-foot angel, icicle canopy, and breathtaking Nativity.

The exhibit is open 10:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. on Sunday - Thursday and 10:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. While there, visitors can also shop in the "ICE!" retail shop offering holiday gifts for children and adults.

On Monday - Thursday, ticket prices are $20 for adults, $10 for children 4 - 12, $18 for seniors 55 and up, and free for children 3 and under. On Friday - Sunday, tickets prices are $23 for adults, $12 for children 4 - 12, $20 for seniors 55 and up, and complimentary for children 3 and under. Complimentary self-parking is included in the ticket price.


Gaylord Texan will present "The Magic of Christmas" holiday production with the city of Grapevine at downtown Grapevine's Palace Theatre. Fantasy becomes reality in this spectacular holiday production that celebrates the warm and cozy sights and sounds of the season with song and dance. Watch as Frosty the Snowman comes to life, and drop into Santa's workshop as his elves prepare Christmas toys.
