Charleston, SC (PRWEB) September 11, 2008
In memory of the many Americans who lost their lives during the 9/11 attacks - U.S. House Joint Resolution 71 was signed into law by President George W. Bush designating September 11 of every year as Patriot Day - a national day of prayer and remembrance. The U.S. flag is flown at flag staff, on government buildings and homes, and a moment of silence is observed at 8:46 a.m. (E.D.T.)
VetFriends.com - an online community reuniting and supporting U.S. military veterans - has created a Patriot Day photo tribute page (http://www.vetfriends.com/militarypics) - honoring the bravery and patriotism of all veterans, active military, firefighter & police heroes who have and are currently serving the nation. Furthermore, the collection serves as a token of remembrance for the victims of the attacks and fallen soldiers of the War on Terrorism.
"On Patriot Day, please join VetFriends.com in remembering all who lost their lives on 9/11. We send our prayers out to their family & friends, along with our many heroes currently fighting the War on Terror. Thank you U.S. veterans and military, along with our firefighter and police heroes," says VetFriends.com founder and U.S. veteran Dale F. Sutcliffe.
The VetFriends.com Patriot Day tribute page is made up of authentic pictures submitted by U.S. veterans, active military, family and friends - showing service buddies laughing side by side, brothers and sisters in arms proudly wearing the uniform, military class photos, heroes carrying our flag and many other powerful images honoring the brave men and women who have and are serving America.
Visitors can search for images by specific military branch, year, war, state and country. Each picture contains background information along with a brief message or description. Additionally, an "e-mail reply option" is available with each photo, where users can send thank you comments, questions and information requests to the person who submitted the photo.
