Austin, TX (PRWEB) September 11, 2008
Infoglide Software Corporation announced today the launch of a new solution called IRE Auto-Classification. Based on the company's Identity Resolution Engine(tm) (IRE), it incorporates technology protected by the company's recently issued patent entitled "Remote scoring and aggregating similarity search engine for use with relational databases."
IRE Auto-Classification is used for Product Information Management (PIM), a subset of Master Data Management (MDM). IRE Auto-Classification allows companies to accurately classify large numbers of products with little to no manual intervention. Given a list of product descriptions, IRE Auto-Classification examines and scores similar products for each item on the list using patented search analytics, then auto-classifies each item into a Product Information Management taxonomy. Combining the taxonomy and business rules to create a Master Product Index allows the most appropriate product number to be incorporated into supply chain business processes like ordering.
IRE Auto-Classification is applied to ascertain the degree of similarity between products and product attributes. Often products are classified differently in different databases due to varying protocols or data entry errors. Infoglide's patented technology applies similarity search algorithms to evaluate a range of attributes such as color, transposed numbers, abbreviations, etc. These algorithms score the products based on degree of similarity, and then products that are determined to meet an acceptable degree of similarity are automatically grouped.
"Accurately and efficiently assigning products into an existing taxonomy is a critical challenge for many organizations," says Robert Barker, senior vice president and chief marketing officer. "The classification process is often a manual one that consumes a significant amount of time and resources. We've talked to Product Information Management vendors whose customers often resort to offshoring this manual process in order to save money, which can introduce unacceptable business delays."
IRE Auto-Classification is based on technology selected by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security for its next generation of airline passenger screening called SecureFlight.
About Infoglide Software Corporation
Infoglide (http://www.infoglide.com) supplies identity resolution and entity analytics solutions to government and commercial markets. Infoglide's solutions search relational databases and analyze data related to individuals and/or entities within multiple data silos. Infoglide's patented identity resolution technology allows for data matching, auto classification, and data cleansing in applications for data quality and master data management (MDM), including customer data integration (CDI) and product information management (PIM). The company's Identity Resolution EngineTM (IRE) utilizes identity matching and fuzzy search capabilities to discover non-obvious relationships, applies domain specific rules as well as similarity and classification engines, and automatically integrates the resulting business intelligence into an organization's systems and processes in real time. IRE has over 50 patented algorithms that are applied based on domain specific rules. Features include data matching, fuzzy search/fuzzy match, similarity search, identity matching, data quality, and discovery of non-obvious relationships. Incorporated in 1996, Infoglide Software is a privately held company headquartered in Austin, Texas.
