Using the service, consumers can save time and money by stopping wasteful 'pre-approved' credit card offers from reaching their postal mailbox, while finding a card that matches their specific needs and interests.

"Consumers respond to less than 1% of credit card offers received in the mail, even though research shows that only half are satisfied with their current card*," said Steven Gal, CEO of ProQuo. The credit card service helps consumers:

  • Stop Unwanted Personalized Offers - ProQuo enables consumers to tell the major credit reporting bureaus to stop selling their personal information to marketers who send wasteful and unwanted 'pre-approved' credit card offers. Identity thieves love to target these types of offers- often stealing them right out of postal mailboxes -- because they tend to contain personal information.
  • Find the Credit Card That Saves the Most Money - ProQuo helps consumers pinpoint a credit card that, based on their spending patterns and lifestyle, can save them the most money. With the answers to a few questions, ProQuo searches its database of hundreds of cards to find the best introductory APRs, the best travel and gas rewards, the best balance transfer fees, etc. Unlike many services, ProQuo can combine multiple preferences to provide highly targeted recommendations. Consumers can store these preferences and return at any time to update them and get new recommendations.

The service contains a number of valuable features for helping consumers find the right card for them, including a balance transfer savings calculator, a reward estimator, detailed finance facts, and the ability to compare multiple cards on the same page.

"Consumers spend a lot of time clipping coupons and doing other things to save money - here's something simple they can do that can potentially save hundreds of dollars a year," Gal said.

According to Gal, a major differentiator from most card sites is that ProQuo does not rank its card recommendations based on how much it receives in referral fees. Instead it provides recommendations based on only one thing: what's right for the consumer.

Launched in October 2007, ProQuo started off helping consumers stop paper junk mail by removing their name from thousands of marketing lists generated by data brokers and other organizations that collect, buy and sell consumers' personal information - often without their consent.
