Nurse/Model/Actress/Author - Which Career Bags Abi Titmuss the Cheapest Car Insurance? Confused.com Investigates

Share Article

Abi Titmuss is a veritable poster girl for multi-skilling, but just which of her callings would nab the cheapest car insurance deal - nurse, model, actress or author? Insurance comparison site Confused.com found out.

Lincolnshire lass Abi Titmuss has dabbled in several careers over the years, and as job title is one of the rating factors that determine how much you pay for car insurance, Confused.com ran a series of quotes to see which profession would secure Abi the cheapest car insurance.

Car Quote Details

Abi has been spotted nipping between red carpet events in a Mini One Convertible, so this was used for quotes. As a top celeb it was assumed that her Mini would have top security to match - so boxes were ticked for alarm, immobiliser and tracker.

Miss Titmuss was also given the benefit of the doubt and credited with 5 years no claims bonus, no convictions and no accidents or losses - after all, with Abi's tabloid track record, we'd probably all know if there were any driving skeletons in her closet! Finally, to best match her actual home address, details were entered for a three storey townhouse in Islington, North London.

Cheapest Annual Quotes Found

Nurse Abi's Quotes     Cheapest: Sheila's Wheels    £310.49
Author Abi's Quotes    Cheapest: Virgin Money        £312.90
Actress Abi's Quotes    Cheapest: elephant.co.uk    £601.10
Model Abi's Quotes            Cheapest: Direct Choice        £602.29

Note: most expensive quote returned for 'Nurse' was £989.55 - over three times as much as the cheapest - and for 'Model' the highest quote was £2,032 - nearly £1,400 more than the cheapest. Figures highlight both the breadth of price range in the market and the importance of shopping around in order to find a cheap deal.

As Abi is currently plugging her latest book 'The Secret Diaries', she might want to make a note in her diary to recoup any shortfall in sales by, quite legitimately, stating her job title as 'Author' on her car insurance - particularly if she's currently listed as model or actress. However, once Abi's penmanship dries up, she would need to update her job title to avoid the possibility of accidentally invalidating her car insurance in the event of a claim.

So when it comes to finding the cheapest car insurance quote based on job title, being a 'Nurse' wins out for Abi Titmuss. But as there's only £2 in it compared with her cheapest quote as 'Author', she may want to keep tapping away on her word processor before considering a return to emptying bedpans.
