Beverly Hills, CA (PRWEB) September 16, 2008
New York - Sept. 16, 2008 - On Saturday, Sept. 20, the saga of the LG15 universe continues with the premiere of the new serial web drama, "LG15: The Resistance" available at http://www.lg15.com. The show will also be available through online distribution partners MySpaceTV, imeem, Veoh, YouTube™ and Hulu.
The story told in "LG15: The Resistance" picks up where previous online video series phenomena, lonelygirl15 and KateModern, left off and revolves around The Order, an evil secret society that has discovered the existence of very rare girls that carry a special life-extending blood trait. The Resistance is now the only hope in battling the Order, but they must overcome great obstacles to do so. The new series combines action, romance and intrigue in the spirit of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "National Treasure."
"The LG15 fans and community are an integral part of our online series. Their passion for the characters, storylines and interactive elements are what continues to drive the narrative forward," said Amanda Goodfried, executive producer of "LG15: The Resistance." "Through these active fans around the world, we've been able to put storytelling and interactivity at the core of our online video productions, and as a result we're able to create the most engaging serialized content on the Internet."
Beginning with the Sept. 20 premiere, a new 8-12 minute episode of "LG15: The Resistance" will be posted every Saturday throughout the 12 week season. During the week prior to each episode, daily online postings from the characters consisting of short videos, blog posts and photos will help to inform the plot. The new show format, with one long-form video posted each Saturday, has been specifically designed to create an easily accessible viewing experience for casual viewers, while the additional daily postings serve as an interactive, engaging experience for viewers who want to actively communicate with the characters, help to solve puzzles, and interact with the narrative. The season finale will conclude with the LG15 trademark '12 in 12' - one new episode posted every hour over 12 hours, culminating in a dramatic conclusion.
A completely redesigned show website will also launch on Saturday, Sept. 20, in conjunction with the premiere of the series. The new LG15.com will let fans better connect with the new show and interact with each other through new and expanded social features including the creation of profile pages, participation in live chats, discussion forums, comment boards, character blogs, photo and video sharing, and more.
Overlapping characters from the original lonelygirl15 series will star in the new show, including leading characters "Jonas," played by Jackson Davis, and "Sarah" played by Alexandra Dreyfus. Additional characters include "Maggie," played by Marnette Patterson and "Reed" played by newcomer Brett Ryback. Fans will recognize Ms. Paterson from roles in hit TV shows including "Charmed," "Nip Tuck," "CSI," and "That 70's Show," among others. "LG15: The Resistance" is executive produced by Miles Beckett, Greg Goodfried and Amanda Goodfried, the producers of lonelygirl15 and KateModern, with Joshua Hale Fialkov, creator of the graphic novels "Elks Run" and "Punks," serving as head writer.
In yet another first for serialized online video content, each week's episode of "LG15: The Resistance" will feature music from one new, up-and-coming artist, for a total of 12 acts over the course of the 12 week season, including select exclusively licensed music previously unreleased to the public. Fans will be able to purchase the music featured in the show directly from links embedded in the LG15.com website, and from posts written up each week in the LG15 blog. Late of the Pier, Scissors for Lefty and Jennifer O'Connor are among the artists that will be featured during the series.
Series creators and EQAL co-founders Miles Beckett and Greg Goodfried will deliver a keynote presentation and sneak preview of the first episode of "LG15: The Resistance" tonight, Tuesday, Sept. 16, at 7 p.m. ET at the New York Television festival. LG15 Mythology & Back Story for "LG15: The Resistance"
On the doorstep of the 20th century, a small group of freemasons and occultists discovered an ancient secret that had been lost since the time of the pharaohs. They learned that a select number of girls are born with a rare and valuable genetic trait that imbues their blood with the ability to extend the life of anyone who infuses it into their body. Under the guidance of their master, Aleister Crowley, this group of 12 individuals formed a society called the Order to protect the secret and search the world for these girls so that they could use their blood and rule the world as immortals. These Elders sought to bring order to an otherwise cruel and chaotic world, and they formed a religion, the Hymn of One, to function as the public face of their secret society. Despite their initially benevolent intentions, the power corrupted and the Order gradually became a force for control and oppression.
Today, the secret of the Fountain of Youth begins with the blood of these so called "Trait-Positive" girls. Bree (known to the world as lonelygirl15) was one of these rare girls. When she was killed in a bloodletting ceremony, the world saw the truth about how corrupt the Order had become. When Kate (KateModern) discovered she was Trait-Positive, the world around her began to unravel and she too met an untimely death. The people whose lives Bree and Kate touched have devoted themselves to ensuring that this never happens again.
THE RESISTANCE is the only hope. Battling the evil cult of the Hymn of One, they race across the country to protect these girls from certain death. Led by Bree's first love, Jonas, this rag-tag group must overcome great obstacles to save these girls, before they are reached by the Order. "LG15: The Resistance" follows our heroes as they strive to find a secret object that could alter the future for every Trait-Positive girl across the globe.
