Rockville, MD (PRWEB) September 17, 2008
Schreiber Translations, Inc. (STI) was recently awarded the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (U.S. Department of Homeland Security) translations contract in July 2008 and the King County Department of Public Health (King County, Washington) translations contract in May 2008.
These contracts address the basic need for multilingual documents throughout the local and Federal governments. With these multilingual documents, government programs become easily accessible to the Limited English Proficiency (LEP) population that is serviced by such entities as USCIS and King County. These awards also allow the LEP community to move one step closer to achieving the rights given to them by the 1964 Civil Rights Act.
The Civil Rights Act of 1964 stated, "no person in the United States shall, on the grounds of race, color, or national origin be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance." Now more than 20 years later the LEP community of the United States is still striving to reap the full benefits of the Civil Rights Act. For over two decades, STI has provided translation services to the LEP community at the county, state, and Federal levels.
It was STI's high quality service offering, technical expertise and competitive pricing that were the driving forces behind both awards. President Marla Schulman had this to say about Schreiber Translations, Inc.'s latest achievements, "While STI benefits from the growth associated with these awards, it also continues to be a source of pride for us that we are able to support the language needs of the United States LEP community."
