Sparkplug, Inc., a leading provider of fixed wireless business broadband services, today announced that it has relocated its headquarters to Scottsdale, Ariz., positioning the company for continued growth and long-term success. The move of it headquarters function from Chicago aligns the company with its largest employee base and reflects the rapid growth in demand the company is seeing for its services in the Phoenix metro area and across the Southwest.

"The Phoenix area continues to be one of the fastest growing areas in the country with a rich and vibrant business community," said Michael Ruley, CEO of Sparkplug. "This location will provide the perfect launch pad to push into new markets around the country while aiding our efforts to expand further in Phoenix and across the Southwest."

Sparkplug chose Scottsdale as its headquarters not only for its attractive growth characteristics, but also because of the city's reputation as a location for technology leaders. "The Scottsdale business community is thrilled to have Sparkplug relocate its headquarters to the Scottsdale Airpark. Scottsdale is one of the few communities that can boast great quality of business and quality of life," said Cindi Eberhardt, Vice-President of Economic Development and Public Policy at the Scottsdale Area Chamber of Commerce. "Home to both regional and worldwide headquarters of many emerging, high growth and technologically advanced industry leaders, the Scottsdale Airpark is recognized as one of the hottest areas because of its dynamic business environment. We welcome Sparkplug."

Earlier this year, Sparkplug announced a significant increase in the reach and capacity of its Phoenix network, making affordable high-speed broadband available to over 35,000 additional businesses. The expansion brought the total number of businesses in Sparkplug's Phoenix and Scottsdale service area to over 80,000. Sparkplug serves both enterprise customers and telecommunications providers and carriers in the Arizona market.

Hands-on Support

Although the headquarters location has changed, Sparkplug's commitment to local support in each of its markets remains unchanged. "One of the key aspects to our growth and success is providing a strong local, hands-on presence in each of the markets we serve. We see this as an important part of our service that will not change," said Ruley.

The past few months have been active for Sparkplug with the announcements of additional network expansions in Chicago, Des Moines and Las Vegas, and the August appointment of Ruley as CEO. In a planned leadership transition, former CEO Bill Malloy moved to the position of chairman for Steve Hooper who retained a seat on the board of directors.

Ruley, who has more than 20 years experience leading communications companies, anticipates significant growth for Sparkplug, both through network expansion and through acquisition.
"This is an exciting time for the fixed wireless industry. Wireless technology has made tremendous strides over the past few years and now can offer customers better service, more flexibility and greater capacity than wireline alternatives. Coupled with the growth in demand for high-capacity broadband and Web-based services, the future for Sparkplug looks extremely bright," Ruley said.

Sparkplug headquarters are now located at 7575 East Redfield Road, Suite 137, Scottsdale, AZ 85260. The company also has operations in Chicago, Des Moines, Nashville, New Mexico, and Las Vegas.
