White Paper Recommends that HR Rapidly Introduce Business Acumen Programs to Launch Constructive Response to Current Economic Slowdown

The Perth Leadership Institute (http://www.perthleadership.org/), the industry leader in business acumen assessment and development programs, today announced that it had re-issued its White Paper on the current economic downturn and its impact on leadership development practices and programs due to its popularity and due its even-further increased relevance to the current economic environment. The White Paper argues that while recessions typically see a pullback in leadership development programs, there are good reasons for this to be different this time as long as HR and leadership development professionals take the initiative.

The approach in the White Paper is based on the book by Dr. E. Ted Prince, Founder and CEO of the Institute, entitled The Three Financial Styles of Very Successful Leaders, published by McGraw-Hill in 2005.

According to Dr. Prince, “Our White Paper predicted that the current economic slowdown and possible recession would lead to a reduction in leadership development programs and spending since companies would have lower confidence that these programs would provide short-term solutions to critical financial issues. But we also pointed out that companies have an unparalleled opportunity to transform both leadership development programs, and the way that they are viewed by their companies by rapidly introducing business acumen programs complete with behavioral assessments for business acumen. These have the potential for rapid financial impacts to help companies in the short-term and to position them better financially for the medium-to-long term. Developments since the beginning of the year have made these recommendations even more timely and relevant”

The Perth Leadership Institute has developed new business acumen assessments based on its research. These form part of its business acumen assessment and development programs for executives. These include its individual, team and C-level financial impact improvement programs.

Perth has already announced the release of its Financial Outcome Assessment®, an online instrument which assesses the business acumen of executives and managers and shows them how to develop it.
