Lynbrook, NY (PRWEB) September 15, 2008
To celebrate the release of its latest issue "The City Game," Gotham Baseball Magazine is proud to announce that for the first time, the only sports publication that covers the past, present and future of New York baseball, also will be available in digital form.
"We are excited about offering Gotham Baseball Magazine to our online audience for the first time," said Mark Healey, President and CEO of Gotham Sports Media, LLC. "Today technology is fundamentally changing the media, and our readership has been ready for this for a long time."
Healey, who also serves as Executive Editor, believes that while print is still in high demand, more and more sports fans - especially ones of the baseball variety -- are getting their news online, "so why not their magazines too?"
"The City Game" examines various aspects of baseball woven within the New York City fabric. It features articles by Senior Editors Art Shamsky ("Art Of The Game") and Marty Appel ("Gotham Goes To Gaza," the birth of professional baseball in Israel), a look at the annual charity baseball game between New York's true heroes, "The Bravest and The Finest" and a story on the quintessential New Yorker, Phil Rizzuto in "Little Big Man." This inaugural digital issue features a cover illustration of New York Mets' pitcher Johan Santana, selected by the readers in an online vote.
"John Pennisi is one of the great sports artists that the world doesn't know about yet," Healey said. "Our design team at Cadmus Communications took Johnny's illustration, worked with our graphic design guys and created three great covers. They were all so good, I couldn't choose, so I let the fans do it, and they hit a home run."
