We believe that it was our engineer that failed to stop at a signal
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) September 17, 2008
Traverse Legals attorneys and staff have launched a web site devoted to the investigation of the Metrolink Commuter train accident. The crash occurred on September 12, 2008 in Chatsworth, CA in the San Fernando Valley area, Northwest of Los Angeles, California. In addition to 26 fatalities, more than 130 train passengers were injured. Metrolink owned the train which was being operated by Veolia Transportation. This Metrolink train accident is deadliest rail disaster in 15 years.
According to several news sources, including CNN, Metrolink spokeswoman Denise Tyrrell admitted that the train crash resulted from "human error". "We believe that it was our engineer that failed to stop at a signal," Tyrrell said prior to resigning on Monday. The Metrolink's Board of Directors called Tyrrell 's announcement "premature," even though the NTSB later supported her statement.
Attorney Enrico Schaefer notes: "This web site will stand as a permanent memorial to the victims of the accident. We believe the internet offers a permanency and opportunity for change that the legal system rarely affords. Too often, victims of deadly accidents access the courts in hope that a verdict will change the behavior of companies and improve safety. But companies whose negligence results in injury in death often deny responsibility even after an adverse verdict, blaming the jury system and avoiding any admission of responsibility. A web site devoted to the victims of a mass tort memorializes the accident and its causes. Tortfeasors can leverage victims into confidential settlements and hide the truth. But you can't hide from Google. Web pages offer the opportunity for change in a way the legal system often fails to deliver."
Traverse Legal lawyers specialize in complex litigation and class actions. Over the last several years, the law firm launched accident investigation web sites for the Ethan Allen disaster in Lake George New York in 2005 (which killed 20 elderly victims) and the Crown Princess listing accident off Port Canaveral, Florida in June, 2006 (which injured hundreds). Traverse Legal currently represents over 47 injured victims of the Crown Princess incident, with many of those cases still pending in the Superior Court of California - County of Los Angeles, mass tort division.
