Karin A. Gregory Joins Ovations for the Cure's Board of Directors
Ovations for the Cure, a non-profit organization dedicated to the relentless pursuit of a cure for ovarian cancer, appointed Karin A. Gregory to their Board of Directors.
Natick, MA (PRWEB) September 16, 2008 -Ovations for the Cure, a non-profit organization dedicated to the relentless pursuit of a cure for ovarian cancer, today announced the appointment of Karin A. Gregory to their Board of Directors, where she will jointly oversee the activities of the organization along with existing members.
Karin's career spans close to 30 years in the healthcare field, working as a lawyer with health and medical entities since 1988. She began her career at MIT in basic science research and then at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute where she managed a start-up outpatient department devoted to breast cancer. She moved into the venture capital world focused on funding of healthcare companies including starting up a new fund called Dover Medical Ventures. In 2005, she formed Furman Gregory LLC as a business law firm representing early healthcare and technology companies. Additionally, she serves on numerous non-profit boards and is an Assistant Professor in the College of Medicine at the University of New England.

Ovations for the Cure was founded in 2006 by Patty Franchi Flaherty and is committed to raising awareness and funds for ovarian cancer. The disease currently has no accurate screening test available to women at risk and as a result, 7 out of 10 women are not diagnosed until advanced stages of the disease.

As a member of the board, Ms. Gregory will aid the organization by establishing broad policies and objectives, reviewing the performance of Ovations, approving the annual budgets and insuring availability of adequate financial resources.
