BGS Lingerie Comes Equipped with Decades of Business Savvy

With 20+ years of experience, Brenda Giroux knows lingerie. Avoiding the trappings of a traditional business model, Giroux opened last year and has since built a well-rounded website with various intimate products. On the eve of the site's first anniversary, she entertains the notion of opening a physical location, as well as launching a new blog.

Brenda Giroux has two decades worth of experience selling lingerie, but with the expeditious rate of technology and the ease of starting an internet business, she has ventured online, starting

"In the early 1980's, I locally sold lingerie and it sold really well here in British Columbia," said Giroux. When it came time to start up a new version of her old business, Giroux did an enormous amount of research.

"I've always had this eagerness, so I was searching the internet and I wanted to build a website," began Giroux. "When I decided to sell lingerie again, I visited two shops and did research and I just wanted to see what would happen."

As it approaches its first year anniversary, BGS Lingerie has a well-rounded catalog, not only in varied types of lingerie, but also several types of massage oils and jewelry.

Giroux plans to focus on the website and to continue adding more products to it, in the meantime, she's recently added a blog ( to the website.

"I want to post features about different items on the blog," said Giroux. "We want to build a dialogue with our customers and really get their feedback through our blog."

Unlike many webstores, Giroux maintains that her customer service is what sets her site apart from others. Rather than having automated e-mails, Giroux answers each e-mail, so people know that they're engaging in a discussion with a real person:

"I like to make sure that the customer is satisfied with the quality of our product and work," she said. "I love people and I want to make sure that if they have any questions and concerns, I'm able to address them to the best of my ability."

While BGS Lingerie continues to be her primary store, Giroux has expressed interest in launching other sites, while entertaining the notion of opening a brick-and-mortar store, though she realizes that her website is what sets her apart. "I don't know if other lingerie stores have websites," Giroux said. "They have physical stores, but eventually, I would like to do that as well."

With all the drive in the world, there's not a doubt that Brenda Giroux can accomplish that goal within the foreseeable future.
