Over heating power plants and drive engines are a thing of the past. Now the Captain or engineer can get real time raw water flow information for all on-board heat exchangers. The Sonar ASF-301 has no moving parts and requires minimal maintenance. An onboard microprocessor has a selectable transit-time and doppler operating modes. The Aqua-Sonar ASF-310 uses a pair of Non-Invasive clamp on transducers that monitor the water flow from outside the pipe.

The Aqua-Sonar ASF-301 (ultrasonic flow meter) provides real-time flow indicators to the helm or engine room to prevent catastrophic failures. The Aqua-Sonar ASF-301 also logs data for up to a year so the engineer or Captain can schedule maintenance well in advance of a failure.
The Aqua-Sonar ASF-301 uses a transit-time technique using a pair of transducers with each transducer sending and receiving coded ultrasonic signals through the raw water flow. When the raw water is flowing, signal transit-time in the downstream direction is shorter than the upstream direction; the difference between these transit times is proportional to the flow velocity. The Aqua-Sonar ASF-301 measures this time difference and uses the programmed pipe parameter to determine flow rate and velocity.
Ultrasonic flow transducers are classified as either wetted or non-wetted (clamp on). Clamp-on transducers are clamped onto the outside of the pipe and never come into contact with the raw water. Clamp-on transducers offer a maximum convenience, flexibility and low installation cost compared to traditional flow metering technologies. With proper installation, clamp-on transducers offer high accuracy readings (2% to 3%) and repeatability is 0.1% - 0.3% of the reading.
