We're excited to have been selected by the DEP for our industry-leading fire alarm services
Freeport, NY (PRWEB) September 19, 2008
New York Merchants Protective Co. Inc. announced today it has been selected by the NYC Department of Environmental Protection for comprehensive fire alarm maintenance at the city's wastewater treatment plants.
Under the agreement, NYMPC - the nationally recognized security services firm - will service all the fire alarm systems at each of the city's 14 water pollution control plants. The wastewater treatment facilities include 89 pump stations and 8 dewatering facilities, situated throughout the five boroughs of New York City and Nassau and Suffolk counties on Long Island.
"We're excited to have been selected by the DEP for our industry-leading fire alarm services," said Eric Wahrsager, vice president of marketing and development for NYMPC. "The City's wastewater plants are absolutely vital to the quality of water and to the health of New Yorkers. These facilities demand the highest levels of system reliability, and NYMPC is proud to provide that service year-round."
The DEP Bureau of Wastewater Treatment maintains the chemical and physical integrity of New York Harbor and other local water bodies. Treating an average of 1.5 billion gallons a day, through 6,000 miles of sewers, the bureau sustains the continued use and viability of the New York water environment.
The fire alarm systems protect over 1,000 employees in the 14 wastewater plants throughout New York City. Together, the plants serve millions of residents in and around New York City, plus the millions of workers who commute to the city every day. Maintaining the systems at each plant, NYMPC will ensure that all fire alarms are up to code, functioning properly, and securing the facilities against smoke and fire emergencies, 24 hours a day.
The contract with DEP represents NYMPC's latest agreement with the City of New York. NYMPC already provides monitoring and other security services to several city agencies, including the Department of Education (DOE), NYC Health & Hospitals Corporation (HHC), NYC Department of Homeless Services (DHS), Department of Human Resources (HRA), and Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME), among many others.
Said Wahrsager, "As we extend our partnership with the City of New York, we're committed to protecting the millions of people who live and work here with the best security services available today."
