Progress Lighting announced one of its newest collections, Westin, recently received a "Lighting for Tomorrow 2008" award in the indoor fixture family designs category.

The Lighting For Tomorrow awards honor excellence in design of energy-efficient residential lighting fixtures.

The Westin indoor CFL family features arching rectangular arms with strap accents and etched glass. Available in Brushed Nickel and Antique Bronze finishes, Westin includes close-to-ceiling, one-, two-, three- and four-light bath and vanity selections, as well as one-, three- and five-light hall and foyer fixtures, and chandelier and pendant options.

The 15w fixtures are ENERGY STAR qualified - the mark of quality for energy efficient, green friendly lighting - have a lifeline of 10,000 hours and will be available January 2009.

"Progress Lighting is committed to offering consumers new options in lighting that have a positive impact on utility bills," said Paige Malouche, director of marketing services for Progress Lighting. "The Westin is not only aesthetically appealing, but energy efficient, and we are pleased to be recognized with the Lighting For Tomorrow award for our efforts."

Lighting For Tomorrow, sponsored by the American Lighting Association, the Consortium for Energy Efficiency and the U.S. Department of Energy, was created to encourage manufacturers to produce a range of new lighting fixtures that complement home décor, provide high-quality light and save consumers money by using less electricity.

A panel of lighting experts judged the fixtures based on application efficiency, overall lighting quality, aesthetic appearance, innovation and thermal design.

Progress Lighting received awards in the solid-state lighting category in 2006 with the Lakeland outdoor collection, and again in 2007 with the Strata outdoor wall lantern collection.
