The International Tourism in Spain Goes on Increasing

The most visited place was Catalunya with 2,2 million tourists in August. The hotel bookings barcelona increased with 3% since 2007 (source: IMS). The French and British tourists increased with a 4,5% and 10,6 % respectively.

In the first 8 months, Catalunya has received a total of 10,9 million tourists (a 26,3% of the total number of tourists in Spain), a 1,5% more than the last year.

One of the most visited places in Catalunya was the popular Platja d Aro. The hotel platja d aro has been full during the whole month of August.

The Balearic Islands was the second most popular destiny with 1,7 million tourists (22,4% of the total) in August. Since January The Balearic Islands has received 7,5 million tourists.

In third place came Andalusia with 1,1 million tourists in August (14,9% of the total). This autonomous community has experienced an increase of 12% in international tourism since 2006. The market of French and British tourists increased with a 12,4% and 8,5% respectively, but the German tourists increased as well with a 20,3% since last year.

The most popular destiny for business trips were Madrid with 7 million tourists since January. hotel bookings madrid was a very popular search for especially business trips.

The north coast, like Santander and Bilbao, received as usually mostly Spanish tourism, although the coasts are the most beautiful in Spain.
