Celebrate Oktoberfest for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society at the Horse and Angel on 25 September 2008

Prost! It's Oktoberfest time. Beer lovers, Come to the Horse and Angel Tavern on Thursday 25 September 2008 and help in the fight against cancer by drinking a great beer for a great cause. A portion of all sales of Paulaner Hefeweizen will be donated to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The fun starts at noon and runs until we're out.

Albuquerque, NM (PRWEB) September 21, 2008 -- Prost! It's Oktoberfest time. Beer lovers, Come to the Horse and Angel Tavern on Thursday 25 September 2008 and help in the fight against cancer by drinking a great beer for a great cause.

A portion of all sales of Paulaner Hefeweizen will be donated to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The fun starts at noon and runs until we're out.

For those beer lovers among you, here's a little more about the beer we'll be drinking to help fight cancer:

Wheat beer originated in the German state of Bavaria in the 15th century.

Paulaner Hefe-Weizen is the company's flagship style and brings the friendly, relaxed atmosphere of Munich's beer gardens to America. It is a classic Bavarian wheat beer. "Hefe" in German translates to yeast and "Weizen" (pronounced Vi-Zen) translates to wheat. Yeast retained in the beer is responsible for the cloudy appearance of Paulaner Hefe-Weizen. A centrifuge process is used with traditional wheat beers to retain the yeast instead of the typical filtering process used with beers that are clear in appearance. Paulaner Hefe-Weizen contains 60% malted wheat and 40% malted barley.

Kelly Ray is a certified EMT and currently a med student in the Physician Assistant program at the University of St. Francis. She enjoys fundraising for worthy causes and hopes to work in oncology when she graduates med school. Kelly has this to say about the fight against cancer:

"My life has been touched and changed in innumerable ways by cancer. It has taken away people that I have loved. It introduced me to heroes that I admire for their strength."
