LogMeIn® Extends Intel® vPro™ Capabilities to Remote Service Providers for "Below the OS" Support and Management over the Internet

Award-Winning LogMeIn IT Reach® and Rescue® First Software Certified By Intel to Support Intel's® Latest Remote PC Assistance Capabilities.

Woburn, MA (PRWEB) September 22, 2008 - LogMeIn today announced support for Intel's newest-generation Intel® vPro™ Technology, extending its capabilities beyond the corporate network and allowing service providers and IT helpdesks to access, support and manage remote computers via the Internet without touching the operating system.

Whether a computer is simply turned off or if the operating system is not available due to a more serious issue, remote support professionals using LogMeIn IT Reach or LogMeIn Rescue, can now securely connect to a computer with the third-generation Intel® vPro™ Technology.

Service providers armed with these new capabilities can now diagnose and fix problems that previously would have required either an onsite visit or the return of the computer. LogMeIn customers will be able to tackle the thorniest of problems from anywhere, lowering service costs for their most difficult cases. For example, operating system failures and hard drive issues can now be diagnosed via an Internet connection. Previously, only those remote computer users connected by a corporate or virtual private network could take advantage of the Intel vPro Technology.

LogMeIn Rescue, a leading on-demand remote support solution, integrates with the Intel® Remote PC Assist Technology, included in the 2008 version of the Intel vPro Technology, also announced today. Intel Remote PC Assist Technology enables end users to initiate a remote support request even if the operating system is not available. Service providers using LogMeIn Rescue can respond to these calls over the Internet and initiate a remote support session directly into the computer's BIOS.

"Some of the toughest and costliest issues for us are when a truck-roll is required," says Shahin Pirooz, CTO of Centerbeam, a leading provider of managed IT services. "LogMeIn, together with the Intel Remote PC Assist Technology, has expanded the definition of what's possible to do remotely. We've been working with this new service for about a month now, and feel like it could have game-changing implications for the whole industry."

With LogMeIn IT Reach, remote technicians can connect to a computer with the 2008 version of the Intel vPro Technology over a wired Internet connection even if it is completely powered off. Technicians can also boot into the BIOS directly or from a working operating system.

"We believe the integration of the new Intel vPro Technology and LogMeIn tools represents a significant step forward in remote support and management," says Kevin Farrell, VP of Digital Living for LogMeIn. "The ability to deliver operating system-independent support via the Internet connects high-quality IT resources to users that have been traditionally disenfranchised from IT - remote workers, small businesses and consumers."

"Intel vPro Technology continues to improve energy efficient performance, manageability and security" said David Tuhy, Intel general manager in the Business Client Group. "Working in conjunction with LogMeIn, Intel® Remote PC Assist Technology provides an easy to use method for small businesses to get help fast from service providers over the Internet."
