These specialized purifiers can help you breathe in the difference of cleaner, germ-free air.

A new study links global warming to longer ragweed seasons, higher pollen counts, and thus, more severe symptoms among allergy-sufferers. In response, Sylvane, Inc., a leading online supplier of solutions for a healthy indoor environment, is stressing the importance of using a high-quality air purifier to reduce adverse symptoms caused by this environmental occurrence.
In August, the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology reported it had discovered a correlation between global climate change and lengthier ragweed seasons, characterized by speedier growth rates among certain types of ragweed and more concentrated pollen counts. According to the academy, the earth's increasing temperatures and higher sustained carbon dioxide levels result in "longer pollen seasons, greater exposure, and increased disease burden for late summer weeds, including ragweed."
This is disappointing news for the estimated 36 million Americans who suffer from a ragweed allergy. Often, those afflicted with the allergy spend the days between mid-August to mid-October--the unofficial ragweed season--fighting off sneezes, wheezing, coughing, eye irritation, and runny noses. However, Steven Hong, president of Sylvane, stresses that there is effective relief for a ragweed allergy even in the face of uncertain environmental circumstances.
"Using a high-quality air purifier to capture and contain airborne ragweed pollen inside your home or office is a key strategy in the fight against this fall allergen," Hong said. "When spending even a few minutes outdoors during ragweed season, your body and clothing can turn into powerful magnets that attract the weed's pollen. When you travel back inside, the pollen grains lingering on your shirt or limbs are dispersed throughout your entire indoor environment as you move around. This creates a sea of airborne allergy-triggers that can exacerbate your symptoms."
Hong recommends using a HEPA-grade air cleaner to filter out ragweed pollen along with other airborne allergens such as mold spores, pet dander, and dust mites. "An air purifier with a HEPA, or High Efficiency Particulate Air, filter has been proven to trap 99.97 to 99.99% of particles 0.3 microns and larger from the air, including ragweed pollen particles," he said. "Filtering these impurities out of your indoor air will result in a reduction in the severity - or even the elimination - of your allergy symptoms."
Sylvane offers a broad range of high-quality HEPA-grade air purifiers. The IQAir HealthPro Air Purifier leads the pack in overall particle control and filtration, according to Douglas Zailskas, Sylvane's director of sales. "Using HyperHEPA filtration, the IQAir HealthPro is tested and certified to remove many particles smaller than 0.3 microns. In fact, IQAir air purifiers are the only models on the market that filter better than HEPA," he said. Zailskas added, "Other HealthPro features such as a high-quality centrifugal fan, 6 fan speed settings, and an intelligent filter life monitor help to maximize the unit's performance and maintain excellent particle removal." Also effective in removing debilitating indoor allergens is the Alen Air Purifier line. "Both the Alen A375UV and Alen A350 units perform comprehensive particle filtration using 3 separate filters: a large-particle pre-filter, a certified HEPA filter, and an odor-blasting activated carbon filter," Zailskas said. "These specialized purifiers can help you breathe in the difference of cleaner, germ-free air."
In addition to air cleaners designed for allergen removal, Sylvane offers a variety of air purifiers that are ideal for odor and smoke removal, multiple chemical sensitivity, asthma relief, and general air quality. "Our complete collection of air cleaners, all ranging in size, configuration, purpose, and price point, is a one-stop solution center for customers looking to relieve their allergy disorders, asthma conditions, and chemical sensitivities. Customers will also find fixes for indoor odor problems and decreased general air quality." Hong said. "Creating cleaner air is the first step to achieving a healthy indoor environment."
