Highest Bidder Will Own 450+ Acres of Waterfowl Hunting Property in Cumberland County, New Jersey.

The Sora Gun Club property is not only a piece of the region's past, but also a part of its future recreational potential

When the gavel falls on October 5, the Sora Gun Club and its historic Cumberland County hunting property will be sold to the highest bidder, regardless of price and with no minimum reserve. Proceeds from the auction will benefit Ducks Unlimited.

"The Sora Gun Club property is not only a piece of the region's past, but also a part of its future recreational potential," said Auctioneer Rob Doyle, who will be conducting the auction.

The 454 +/- acre property, currently owned by Ducks Unlimited, was formerly owned by the Sora Gun Club, a New Jersey corporation that was formed in 1915, and used as hunting and fishing grounds by the club's members. The Sora Gun Club's wetland property, which is bordered by the Cohansey River, is habitat for sora (Porzana Carolina) the most widespread rail bird in North America.

The environmentally significant Sora Gun Club land is predominantly a wetland property, but does have upland acres. The property is part of the Cohansey Watershed and is a vital component of the New Jersey's Deleware Bay Watershed Project Area, which is estimated to host at least 500,000 birds annually. Additionally, the land where the Sora Gun Club property is located has been identified by the New Jersey Audubon Society as a Tributaries Study Area and a priority area for conservation.

The Sora Gun Club auction will be conducted by United Country - Absolute Auctions & Realty, Inc. during a multi-property auction event that will take place at the Absolute Auction Center, 45 South Ave., Pleasant Valley, N.Y., at 1:11 p.m. on Sunday, October 5.

The winning bidder will take ownership of the Sora Gun Club Corporation, consisting of four shares of stock with 100 percent interest in the 454 +/- acre recreational/hunting/fishing property. Persons interested in the property can bid in person or pre-register to bid on-line simultaneously with the live auction event at Proxibid.com.
