SingaporeMedicine, the government-industry partnership to develop and promote Singapore as the leading medical hub and international healthcare destination, announces its presence on Facebook. By creating a place where people can share and talk about their experiences, SingaporeMedicine strengthens its position as the leading destination for medical and healthcare.

Dr Jason Yap, Director of Healthcare Services at the Singapore Tourism Board, comments, "We are excited to explore this communication channel. The great thing about Facebook is that we will be able to reach out to people and foster our relationship with them. People will be able to share their experiences and insights with their friends and co-workers. Hopefully, they will help us spread the good word about the world-class healthcare services in Singapore. "

Singapore picked up awards for the Best Medical/Wellness Tourism Destination at the TravelWeekly Industry Awards for both 2007 and 2008, securing its dominance in the region as the leading healthcare hub. With 13 Joint Commission International accredited hospitals and medical centers, Singapore provides exemplary medical services at a fraction of the cost of healthcare facilities of equal sophistication and quality elsewhere in the world.

Over the years, Singapore's healthcare system, which has been ranked the very best in Asia by the World Health Organization, has gained the image for excellence, safety and trustworthiness. While "medical tourism" has excited many people and many patients have received much needed care as a result, the consistent opinion, especially among the professionals, is that Singapore is the epitome of good medical destinations, for peace of mind when health really matters.

With over 100 million registered users, Facebook has become one of the most popular social networks in the world. SingaporeMedicine's presence on Facebook provides opportunities to communicate and connect with prospective customers as well as medical travelers who have gone home with successful stories. This is another step that truly marks Singapore's dedication to making itself accessible to international customers.

Facebook users will be able to access the SingaporeMedicine Facebook group and SingaporeMedicine Facebook page. This Facebook channel is an interactive place for Facebook users to interact among themselves by networking, sharing, discussing ideas, experience as well as providing feedback to SingaporeMedicine staff.
