The snack food producer Soulful Foods Inc. today announced that Sam's Club stores in six states will offer a line of potato chips the company developed with Sylvia Woods, owner of a famous New York soul food restaurant.
Sylvia's 12-ounce bags of Honey Barbecue-flavored Kettle Chips will be sold by Sam's Clubs in Georgia, Illinois, North Carolina, Michigan, Minnesota and Pennsylvania.
"This is great news for Soulful Foods and for consumers," said James Lindsay, president and founder of Rap Snacks Inc. and Soulful Foods Inc. "Sylvia's Kettle Chips are healthier than many snacks and feature unique flavors that appeal to those who enjoy traditional Southern cooking or want to try something new."
In addition to the Honey Barbecue flavor sold by Sam's Clubs, Sylvia's potato chips are available in Lemon Pepper and Louisiana Hot flavors.
Sylvia's New York restaurant has been a favorite of celebrities and locals alike since 1962. In 1996 she launched a national line of authentic soul food products based on recipes from her world-famous restaurant. Chef Woods - commonly known as the "Queen of Soul Food" - partnered with Lindsay to create snacks that reflect the flavors used in her famous recipes.
