I was in Hawaii and I met the farmer and his wife at a fresh air market

When Cheryl Hovingh and Debbie Henny started their website in June 2008, they took with them their knowledge of Hawaiian coffee, which manifested in Kona Coffee Mates. "I've been in the coffee business for a long time," said Henny. Hovingh, on the other hand, became friends with the farmer who supplies the duo with coffee.
"I was in Hawaii and I met the farmer and his wife at a fresh air market," Hovingh began. "He didn't have the coffee we were looking for and he told us to come back before we left. When we returned, he forgot the coffee, but went home to get it for us. We went back to Hawaii later and he remembered us."
Coupling Henny's knowledge of the coffee industry with Hovingh's connections, an organic organization grew from their shared love of coffee and Hawaii.
"There are many different blends of Kona coffee," said Henny. "The coffee is heavily regulated. You may find Kona coffee at grocery stores, but it will be a 10% blend. We feature 100% Kona Coffee"
Aside from having real Kona coffee beans, the duo is also offering something that many coffee stores don't. "We have a Support Your Troops package on our site," said Henny. "For $30, we'll ship a pound of coffee over to troops in Iraq or Afghanistan. It's new for us, but I used to be in the military and I remember that when I talked to my mom at home, the only thing I wanted were the little things."
"When a pound of coffee is donated, we'll send a sheet to let the troops know who send them the coffee," added Hovingh.
In addition to ensuring that our armed forces have a little piece of home sent to them, Kona Coffee Mates also has its own blog in http://www.AboutKonaCoffee.com. "With the blog, we'll have tips on roasting your own coffee and we'll explain the differences between Kona coffees," said Henny.
For all intents and purposes, there is more to Kona Coffee Mates than darn good coffee; there's altruistic motive to make sure that our troops overseas don't forget what home is like and there's also a foundation of knowledge about the aforementioned darn good coffee. In reality, there's really no other website like it.
