I'm looking forward to upholding Larry's high standards and continuing to work with the XYUG board to provide valuable, real-world information to our members through the free exchange of ideas and expertise
Wakefield, MA (PRWEB) September 30, 2008
XyEnterprise, a leading developer of award-winning XML content management and multi-channel delivery solutions, in conjunction with the XyUser Group (XYUG), today announced it has wrapped up its 25th annual user conference at the FireSky Resort in Scottsdale, Ariz., where attendees exchanged technology and business expertise and welcomed Chris Leggett as XYUG's new president. This year's conference featured a strong focus on ContentaView, XyEnterprise's platform for publishing and delivering interactive, multimedia content via Web or CD-ROM. Attendees got a firsthand look at the technology in action by participating in a live interactive group demonstration.
Now in its eighteenth year, the XyUser Group is a formal, independent group that was created to assist users of XyEnterprise content management and publishing solutions through a variety of services including an active email discussion list where users share tips, best practices and techniques, annual conferences in Europe and the U.S., access to engineering and product development teams through participation in a Strategic Planning Committee, and a voice in one of the industry's leading website (http://www.xyug.org).
At the fall conference, XYUG members learned practical XPP and Contenta skills in a hands-on, focused environment. Industry professionals and XyEnterprise customers led sessions that featured ways to accelerate productivity and increase practical knowledge through case studies and a spotlight on industry trends.
"The XYUG would like to thank its outgoing president, Larry Porter of Underwriters Laboratories, who has led the board for the past eight years," said Chris Leggett, Letterpart Ltd., U.K., president, XYUG. "I'm looking forward to upholding Larry's high standards and continuing to work with the XYUG board to provide valuable, real-world information to our members through the free exchange of ideas and expertise," Leggett said.
Leggett and his wife run a typesetting service company in southeast England doing tax, legal, directory and dictionary work for a large number of major UK publishers including LexisNexis (Contenta user), Jane's Information Group (Contenta and XPP user), Jordan Publishing Ltd and Pearson Education.
The XYUG fall conference was also an opportunity for attendees to hear about XyEnterprise product updates and offer feedback on product needs for the future. The 2008 conference featured three mini-clinics on Contenta tools, XPP styles, and Perl programming. This year's conference had a particularly impressive international attendance and included participants from Brazil, Canada, England, Belgium, Denmark, Japan, and Hong Kong.
"I attended the XYUG conference for the first time this month and I was amazed that the user group is not just XyEnterprise customers, but also a collegial gathering of friends who come together to share best practices and to reconnect on both a social and professional level," said Daisy Tam, architect, Global Electronic Publishing, BMC Software. "It was a big asset to me to be able to share ideas in that type of setting with other Contenta users," Tam said.
The XyUser Group is an active and open community that creates synergy by sharing ideas and discussing real world issues. Annual conferences give members the opportunity to leverage data and product strengths, influence future XyEnterprise software releases and meet colleagues from around the world while they hear about the latest software releases from XyEnterprise and talk directly to XyEnterprise technical staff. The group has a volunteer board of directors that represents several markets, geographic regions, and the full suite of XyEnterprise products. The user group is autonomous, but it sustains a unique relationship of openness and collaboration with XyEnterprise.
The next fall XyUser Group conference will take place in Charleston, S.C. October 4-7, 2009 and is open to any user of XyEnterprise products.
