Exotissimo Travel Launches New Adventure Programs

Exotissimo Travel is proud to launch new and redesigned Adventure Programs. Months of research have led to the creation of unique adventure tours in Southeast Asia.

Bangkok, Thailand (PRWEB) October 2, 2008 -- Exotissimo Travel is proud to launch new and redesigned Adventure Programs.

Leaders in the industry, Exotissimo has adventure teams in each of the five countries in the region. Thus, extensive research and in-depth knowledge have led to the new, innovative programs on offer in Southeast Asia.

We aim to provide unique programs in the region, exploring areas that are off the beaten path and doing so in an environmentally-friendly way. We know that by venturing off the tourist trail and experiencing the local culture first hand, and not from the windows of a bus, is the best way to truly explore the wonders of the region.
Exotissimo's Managing Director, Mr Hamish Keith, explains the company's outlook on adventure travel as such, "We aim to provide unique programs in the region, exploring areas that are off the beaten path and doing so in an environmentally-friendly way. We know that by venturing off the tourist trail and experiencing the local culture first hand, and not from the windows of a bus, is the best way to truly explore the wonders of the region."

Months of research through unexplored areas led to the creation of the 'Cycling the Mekong' tour. This two week eco-friendly tour explores the stretch of the Mekong River from Pakse, Laos through to Phnom Penh, Cambodia by bicycle.

Exotissimo has fostered relationships with several villages en route to create activities that benefit the local residents whilst protecting the fragile eco-systems of the area. The tour puts a strong emphasis on responsible travel as passengers are experiencing first-hand the natural and man-made wonders of the region.

'Authentic Laos' is a new program focusing on the wonders of Northern Laos. Exotissimo teamed up with eco-toursim group Green Discovery to incorporate into the itinerary a trek through the Akha villages of Luang Nam Tha province. This partnership ensures that not only do travelers get an authentic experience, but the local villages also benefit from financial support to assist in maintaining their fragile ecosystems. Similarly, the tour stays at the Kamu Lodge, an ecolodge on the Mekong River established and managed with the help of the local villagers.

Other highlights of the Exotissimo Adventure program include the re-launch of 'Tham Lod Trek', a three day trip departing from Chiang Mai. This trek traverses the hills and valleys of Northern Thailand and includes homestays with Karen and Shan hilltribe families. In Myanmar, the 'Bike and Trek Shan Hills' continues to be a popular tour. The seven day trip includes hiking and biking through the various hilltribe villages in the Inle Lake region. A new tour in Northern Vietnam, 'Sapa to the Sea' is a combination of hiking, biking, and kayaking, a great multi-sport adventure.

As 2009 approaches, Exotissimo aims to continue to feature innovative adventure tours, researching and creating new itineraries, and offering new twists on perennial favourites.
