Schwartz has joined the firm as a partner in the White Collar Crime & Investigations and Litigation departments. Prior to joining Ruskin Moscou Faltischek, Schwartz was in successful private practice in Brooklyn, New York.
Schwartz has handled a wide variety of misdemeanor and felony cases in the New York area and has extensive trial experience. He is a regular legal commentator on Court TV, Fox News Channel and on ESPN and is often called upon by the electronic and print media to explain complex legal issues. Among his many notable cases, Schwartz achieved an acquittal for a doctor in 2002 who was wrongfully accused of murder in a high-profile trial that lasted five weeks.
As a former Assistant District Attorney in Brooklyn, Schwartz has handled thousands of criminal prosecutions. He successfully tried numerous felonies and misdemeanor cases that led to the conviction and incarceration of many criminals. He was also involved with the investigation of arson and other criminal cases, which led to multiple indictments.
In 2004, Schwartz was appointed by New York Governor George E. Pataki to serve on the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) Inspector General Management Advisory Board. In July 2005, the New York State Senate appointed him to the Board of the Jacob Javits New York Convention Center; in 2006, the Senate also appointed him to the Commission on Judicial Nomination, which nominates justices to the NYS Court of Appeals.
