iTrinegy, the Networked Application Performance Lifecycle™ experts, today launched their most powerful high performance network emulator designed for large scale enterprise testing. The INE Ultra network emulator replicates high speed, high volume networks for large scale testing with up to 50,000 individual network conditions.
These days more and more applications are using the network: web (http), E-mail, thin client, fat client, VoIP, Video over IP, MS-Networking including file shares and while these work straightforwardly in the LAN, the WAN and other non-LAN Networks pose a very significant challenge to their successful operation.
iTrinegy's Network Emulators (INEs) allow you to build realistic "working" models of both current and proposed networks of all kinds, WANs, (A)DSL, GPRS, 3G, Satellite, MPLS etc into which you can easily plug real clients, servers, load generators, switches, routers etc., in order to realistically asses and test an application's behaviour and performance. This means that with iTrinegy Network Emulators you'll be able to ensure that whether it's an application you're developing, or purchasing, you understand its behaviour in the real network without risk to either a production network or having the application fail to perform at rollout. INE Ultra adds very large scale emulation: many clients, many servers, set top boxes, etc. to our range of INE Emulators.
"When developing this Next Generation network emulator we targeted it to be performance driven and the ultimate achievement for testing large amounts of traffic such as occur in the converged networks of data, voice and streaming media" said Frank Puranik, iTrinegy's Product Director. "Its new rule system can automatically control network conditions for multiple and/or individual IP streams without arduous manual setup. This is important because up until this point, other technologies have relied on the manual creation of specific rules for each stream, which does not lend itself to large scale testing. With INE Ultra, we have delivered a product that gives you precise control over bandwidth conditions for each "object" e.g. end user, game consoles, set-top box, IP Phone, application etc, within the test environment"
INE Ultra has a fully scalable design with a performance that can handle up to 1.4 million packets per second and although very powerful, iTrinegy have devised a simple yet sophisticated drag-and-drop multi-platform GUI, where testers can configure and control the emulator through a rich pallet of objects such as buildings, people, computers, routers etc which will automatically build the scenario needed with the added ability to connect these objects by lines representing the network paths.
INE Ultra Features include:
- Sophisticated, but easy to use drag-and-drop GUI for Network Mapping and set-up.
- Sophisticated multi-platform command line (useful for automated testing)
- Different Applications/Users can have different experiences
- Every user can have an individual experience
- Bandwidth, latency, jitter, loss and error control
- Sophisticated Internal Routing provides support for many different forms of QoS
- The creation of packets internally (to test routing, switching etc.)
- Testing of packets and tools for tracing flow internally
- Control of link speed, bandwidth by class, delay (latency), errors and loss
- Ability to utilise XML network scenarios
INE Ultra is about large scale testing; it might be testing large numbers of voice calls, it might be testing video streaming, or large scale testing of individual users/clients from branch offices, and by large offices we are talking about up to 50,000 unique end/user points per emulator, with performance of up to 10 gigabits per second enabling high speed and high volume testing.
Jon Tutcher, Head of Developer Marketing EMEA for Sun Microsystems said "iTrinegy's landmark product leverages the performance capabilities of our x64 server family and its suitability for use in high performance Network/Appliance based applications." Jon continued, "Congratulations to iTrinegy for developing software on our Sun Fire x64 servers to deliver market leading performance without engineering specific hardware, as has been required for this kind of appliance in the past. iTrinegy will now be able to take advantage of Moore's law in delivering even more performance as our x64 family moves forward."
Terry McNicholas, President of iTrinegy Inc. said "Power doesn't necessarily come with complexity, we've made INE Ultra simple to use, from a business point of view, and in contrast to most emulator companies who use their own hardware units, we have based our solution on Sun's industry standard, class leading X64 server range, which comes with the benefits of 24/7 support from Sun and a logical upgrade progression as technology moves forward".
iTrinegy offers one of the most comprehensive range of network emulators available in the world today, with INE Ultra designed to address high-end, large scale testing. Other products in the range address mid-end and lower-end testing at lower costs, including personal emulators for small scale testing.
