This program is a natural fit for Akaza
Cambridge, MA (PRWEB) October 1, 2008
The National Cancer Institute has accepted Akaza Research, LLC as a licensed caBIG® Support Service Provider in two categories: Deployment Support for caBIG® Software Applications; and Documentation and Training Materials and Services. Under the caBIG® Support Service Provider Program, NCI selects the best qualified applicants to deliver support in specified service categories to caBIG™ technology adopters. Acceptance into this program demonstrates that Akaza has been successfully evaluated along 4 primary criteria: technical capabilities, staffing and scalability, geographic coverage, and domain expertise in biomedicine.
Currently in its fifth year, the caBIG® initiative is an ambitious and innovative project of the NIH's National Cancer Institute to develop an open source, open access information network that connects the cancer research community and enables the sharing of tools and data through a common, standards-based electronic infrastructure. As the caBIG initiative transitions from a "pilot" to "enterprise" phase, adopters of the technology will look toward licensed caBIG® Support Service Providers such as Akaza Research to deliver implementation, training, and support services by contracting directly with clients to deliver those services.
"This program is a natural fit for Akaza," said Cal Collins, Akaza's CEO. "We will be able to leverage our experience and infrastructure we have developed for supporting our OpenClinica open source electronic data capture (EDC) platform to offer similar services to caBIG™ adopters."
Akaza Research has maintained close involvement with the caBIG initiative for the past several years. The company actively participates in caBIG's CTMS (Clinical Trials Management Systems) Workspace and has helped develop several of the caBIG open source CTMS software components.
