New York City (PRWEB) October 1, 2008
College students now have a bit more flexibility in New York City when it comes to their meal plan options. Beginning in September, LIM - The College for the Business of Fashion, will enable all of their student ID cards to work at more than 50 restaurants throughout New York City.
The company behind the technology, Off-Campus Integration, was founded in 1994 at the University of Massachusetts and has quickly made itself known in the college market by providing more than 50 institutions nationwide with the ability to take their card programs off-campus.
"When we received a call from LIM asking us to employ technology that is generally used for campuses with more than 25,000 students, we jumped at the opportunity and challenge to employ the same technology, with the same features, at a college with approximately 1,300 students," says Michael S. Hauke, President of OCI. "We set up the system last year and have seen our numbers double not only with LIM, but also with other New York City students."
Not leaving any students behind, OCI also offers the Off-Campus Meal Plan or OCMP card for students who live in New York City but do not go to LIM.
"We wanted to roll out our OCMP card in New York City because there was a growing demand for meal plans. LIM is one of many colleges in New York City that do not have facilities to provide students with a cafeteria-style meal plan. We have hundreds of students on the OCMP program that are here for a semester abroad, taking summer session courses, or going to other schools which do not provide cafeteria-style dining facilities, or that use OCMP as a supplement to their on-campus meal plan," said David Diana, CEO of OCI
OCI contracts with restaurants to accept LIM student ID cards as a form of payment based on requests from students, parents or faculty members.

OCI was created in 1994 to address the growing need of colleges and universities to expand their pre-existing card programs to include off-campus capabilities.
Since then OCI, with their Off-Campus Meal Plans and University and College card system expansion programs, have become a leader in the industry by creating partnerships with institutions and helping them to achieve their goals of going off-campus with efficiency, reliability, and security in mind.
