Art and Soul, a restaurant serving modern southern cuisine in a chic atmosphere, recently opened its doors in Washington, D.C. Two-time James Beard Award winning Chef Art Smith brings his southern inspired dishes to D.C.'s dining public in a 221 seat destination located at The Liaison Capitol Hill, an Affinia Hotel.

Chef/Owner Art Smith teamed with Executive Chef Ryan Morgan to create a menu that mixes their cooking heritages. Chef Art, who also owns the top-rated Table Fifty-Two restaurant in Chicago, and is a contributing editor to O, the Oprah magazine and the Food section of Oprah.com, creates dishes that are inspired by his Southern upbringing. Chef Ryan, who most recently served as Executive Sous Chef at Ten Penh restaurant in D.C., brings a local flavor to his dishes, inspired by his Chesapeake Bay upbringing. Working with local suppliers and vendors, Chef Art and Chef Ryan provide the freshest and finest top quality foods available in the D.C. area to their clientele. The chefs' mission is to serve their patrons "Food for the Soul" - food made with love and special attention. "Chef Ryan and I look forward to offering our guests a little bit of our heart and soul in all of our dishes," says Chef Art.

In addition to great food, Art and Soul also offers a chic atmosphere to its guests. The walls are lined with a series of dramatic oil paintings by American artist Randy Slack. The design of the establishment includes outdoor patio seating and built-in conversation nooks, in an intimate setting adorned with contemporary lighting. The modern look of the establishment, which includes 16-foot glass walls, shiny red chairs around square oak tables and a sleek bar, gives its patrons a stylish, sophisticated urban environment to meet, connect and dine.

Along with the grand opening came the debut of its new website, http://www.artandsouldc.com, developed by Washington, D.C. based web design and marketing firm Blue Water Media, LLC. The website's design, layout and content serve the purpose of introducing the restaurant and helping to build its strong culinary identity while attracting patrons.
