Location intelligence firm creates industry's first-ever "bridge," connecting historic census data to current U.S. household demographics

The current plan for the ACS is one in 40, or 2.5 percent of U.S. households in any given year, and one in eight over a five-year period.

Gadberry Group today released MicroBuildHD, its newest MicroBuild-enabled demographic product.

MicroBuildHD provides the first-ever "bridge," connecting historic census data to current U.S. household demographics. MicroBuildHD is produced quarterly and is available beginning at the census block level. MicroBuildHD represents a well-timed breakthrough in household geo demographic data for location analysis.

Until now, the power of household level demographic data could not be easily or accurately contrasted with census data. MicroBuildHD delivers today's ground truth for U.S. consumer demographics beginning at census block and for standard census geographies and formats.

"As we approach the next decennial, most researchers and site location specialists would look ahead to the 2010 census as the solution to the problem of current demographics. However, the American Community Survey (ACS) is planned to provide an even smaller sample," said Larry Martin, Gadberry Group principal. "The current plan for the ACS is one in 40, or 2.5 percent of U.S. households in any given year, and one in eight over a five-year period."

According to Martin, in areas of high change, the traditional approach produced inaccurate results shortly after the 2000 census. Now, with over eight years of change, even areas that have experienced low to moderate change can have significantly different demographic characteristics.

MicroBuildHD variables are created to be contrasted with equivalent census 2000 variables so that trending with household demographics, virtually impossible before, can now be done quickly and easily.

MicroBuildHD provides comprehensive, accurate, demographics that can be seamlessly integrated into existing models and is available for current year as well as historic editions for 2005-2008.

The current MicroBuildHD package includes current measures for Household Income, Net Worth, Age, Gender, Presence of Children, Length of Residence and Economic Stability Indicator.

MicroBuildHD can be delivered as a flat file, in multiple GIS compatible formats, or via Magnify™, Gadberry's Google-based web visualization application.
