"We are delighted to have these new pilots as part of our competition. They represent an enormous amount of talent and energy," said Joseph Matheny, co-founder of PilotLite. Matheny went on to say, "It's especially gratifying to see what a diverse group of pilots our audience selected."
PilotLite's purpose is to serve as a vehicle, connecting the artist to the public with the goal of generating a studio contract or an online series. Already generating press for the filmmakers, PilotLite's grand prizewinner director Del Bigtree was featured in KTLA and WGN News's CYBERGUY show in a segment titled, "Getting Internet Famous".
"Whenever you have an opportunity to discover and nurture new talent, it rejuvenates the industry," says veteran producer and PilotLite co-founder, Michael Mailer. Mailer further elaborates, "PilotLite will be a great launching pad for future filmmakers and I'm excited to get the ball rolling with our first round of winners."
In an effort to stimulate conversations between filmmakers and industry executives Pilot Lite showcases both full-length films and television pilots.
