DOTME - the new Domain Darling - Flocking to Buy the New Dot ME Domains

The new extension .ME has launched onto the scene with record sales, grabbing the attention of high-profile domainers, industry executives, media companies, investors, and technocrats

Denmark (PRWEB) October 4, 2008 -- The new extension .ME has launched onto the scene with record sales, grabbing the attention of high-profile domainers, industry executives, media companies, investors, and technocrats.

According to Founder and CEO Bob Parsons of domain giant GoDaddy.com Corporation, to the best of the company's knowledge, the volume of .ME registrations on opening day, July 17, quite handily broke any previous record of registrations within the first twenty-four hours.

Within the first few minutes of the opening of the registration, over 5,000 domain names were purchased worldwide as both individuals and businesses alike rushed to secure their preferred .ME extension. The activity was so intense that it caused some technological errors. The registrants grew exponentially, and within two weeks of opening, more than 100,000 domain names had owners.

Many of the big companies, including Apple, Microsoft, Google and major telecoms secured their .ME names. With the growth of the personalized web, blogging and microblogging, and with Apple utilizing "ME" in its branding of products and with its purchase of ME.COM, which is thriving as a website, it's almost a certainty that .ME will only gain in popularity.

The first auction, which was closed to those bidders who placed fees on selected names, reaped over $2 million in revenues. Insure.me sold for $78,000, and many .ME GEOS sold for five figures, including Lasvegas.me, India.me, Korea.me, and China.me.

With a catchy name like .ME which crosses international barriers and with a cool tagline that says, ".ME is about you", and with the recent sizzling sales from the Live Auction in NY hosted by Moniker, where date.me sold for $70,000, it is expected to have a surge in sales and the values of the .ME domains.

The .ME names most likely to gain in value will be active verbs, high premium key words, and well-known GEO .ME domains, which could be useful for travel, tourism, or building blogging, forum or community sites about the respective .ME locales.

You can expect .ME to become the darling of the ad and marketing world. So be prepared to see .ME utilized to sell products and services on the web, mobile phones, TV, and in print ads real soon. .ME is just out of the gates, and it's already gaining global attention. Get prepared for a new .ME world.
