The robust engine was developed after the success of Social Search, another search engine that was developed as an extension of BlogCatalog's Social Dashboard.

Tijerina said that the search engine is a leap forward in blog promotion. Any time someone conducts a topic search, registered members who have written about that topic will be appear in the results. In addition to searching blogs, BlogCatalog also aggregates what bloggers are doing across all of their social networks.
