BlogCatalog.com, a premier social network for bloggers, launched a total aggregation search engine that delivers search results from the BlogCatalog directory, member blog posts, discussion areas, blog tags, post tags, and more than 20 social networks. It is the first comprehensive search engine of its kind developed by a blogger community.

The new search engine, accessible at http://www.blogcatalog.com/search/, enables anyone to search the BlogCatalog directory of over 150,000 blogs, and multiple social networks. The robust engine was developed after the success of Social Search, another search engine that was developed as an extension of BlogCatalog's Social Dashboard.

"In being responsive to bloggers, programming a total organic content and tag search engine made a lot of sense," says Daniel Tijerina, lead programmer at BlogCatalog.com. "Bloggers want the ability to go to one location and find content written by other bloggers and this search engine checks more than 150,000 member blogs as well as all the content within our network and more than 20 others."

Tijerina said that the search engine is a leap forward in blog promotion. Any time someone conducts a topic search, registered members who have written about that topic will be appear in the results. In addition to searching blogs, BlogCatalog also aggregates what bloggers are doing across all of their social networks.

"If a topic becomes popular, you can track its activity across blogs, mentions on Twitter, and even find out which members have Dugg it," said Tijerina. "You can also narrow the search field to focus in on each search field category or search across all fields, providing you a glimpse of what bloggers are writing about or what other social network members are talking about."

BlogCatalog is a vibrant member-driven online community with tools, features, widgets, and forums that help bloggers connect. It also leads in the development of many free applications that assist bloggers. More than 100,000 approved bloggers interact on BlogCatalog every day.
