TeraVista Systems announced this week a partnership with The Institute for Technology Development (ITD) and The University Illinois Chicago, Energy Resource Center (ERC) in a joint research project. The project will concentrate on conducting geospatial analysis for carbon offsets. TeraVista Systems also recently announced that Dr. David Schertz, former president of Schertz Consulting Company was elected, as an advisory committee member and consultant to the company.

Dr. Schertz organized and managed his own consulting company which emphasized conservation issues such as promoting the use of no-till farming methods, conservation alliances, developing soil erosion prediction training materials and providing training, and making presentations.

The Institute for Technology Development public-private partnerships are created to drive the research and commercial objectives of this work. ITD personnel apply cutting edge and creative image analysis techniques to extract knowledge from imagery that can support a decision about a target contained in the image. ITD has a 22 year proven track record for converting its applied research results into commercial products or services. InTime, Inc. an ITD spin-off, services our nation's farmers with real-time prescription maps for applying crop chemicals.

ERC performs conservation and total load reduction consulting work in the commercial sector. Working closely with clients and utilities alike, ERC promotes energy awareness and efficient practices and strategies across every sector of the commercial marketplace. Additionally, the impacts of research, technologies and governmental regulations can best be understood in the terms of economic analysis. ERC's projects in this area shed light on the far reaching effects of new technologies and governmental regulations on the energy industry, and assist decision makers that determine the direction of the market in the future.
