Like the aftermarket cartridges -- low priced and environmentally sound -- the market will drive sales, or not, to the newly discovered soy product

OfficeSupplyOutfitters, a major online retailer of aftermarket toner cartridges and inkjet printer cartridges , says that the technology is here for an environmentally sound answer to the traditional oil-based product. The Ohio Soybean Council has moved from the initial research of soybean-based toner to product testing, and states that the results are very good.
For years, OfficeSupplyOutfitters has provided high-quality, low-priced, remanufactured toner printer cartridges. The company is now looking at the distribution of soy-based alternatives.
“Our aftermarket toner and inkjet cartridges help save the planet and save our customers money. The demand for these products came early on,” says Mike Gardner, president and founder of OfficeSupplyOutfitters. “When the consumer sees that the price of an ink cartridge can sometimes exceed the price of their printer, they begin to fight back.”
So the remanufactured cartridge itself is recycled, as are some of the parts inside, but what about the toner? Toner, the powdery substance used inside the printer, copier or fax machine cartridge, is an oil-based product. It takes roughly 2 liters of oil to make enough for one cartridge. American consumers use over 1 million of these per year. That equates to 200 million liters of oil to satisfy demand in the USA. So, will a soy-based product be the next generation toner?
“Like the aftermarket cartridges -- low priced and environmentally sound -- the market will drive sales, or not, to the newly discovered soy product,” Gardner says.
