Newark, Delaware (PRWEB) October 10, 2008 -- FoodServiceWarehouse.com, the industry's one-stop shop for high-quality restaurant equipment, supplies and educational resources, today announced The Cereal Bowl Delaware as an official participant in FoodServiceWarehouse.com's new Going Green Program. Opening October 11 in Newark, Delaware, The Cereal Bowl will be serving specialty cereal to its customers utilizing eco-friendly equipment and supplies.

Headquartered in Florida, The Cereal Bowl has 22 franchises in development, with the Delaware store its second and newest location. The Cereal Bowl is taking steps to become a Certified Green Commercial Kitchen by using FoodServiceWarehouse.com's Going Green Program, which helps foodservice operators slash energy costs, conserve water and reduce their environmental impact.

"We are excited to open a franchise built on both an innovative concept and eco-credibility. It's also more affordable, both now and in the long-term," said Linda Busacca, owner of The Cereal Bowl Delaware. "By working with FoodServiceWarehouse.com, we are certain we have the proper processes in place to proudly call ourselves 'green' and hope very soon to call The Cereal Bowl Delaware a Certified Green Commercial Kitchen."

As one example of The Cereal Bowl's green initiatives, every patron eats cereal from a biodegradable, Bagasse (sugarcane) bowl. These Bagasse bowls will return to their natural state 45 days after they have been thrown away. In addition to the bowls, FoodServiceWarehouse.com has provided The Cereal Bowl with energy-efficient equipment, including Top Mount Series Dual Temp Refrigerator, Self-Contained Cube Ice Machine and a Glass Door Undercounter Refrigerator.

"Today's restaurants are being squeezed by rising energy prices and a reduction in discretionary spending by consumers," said Steve Kurtz, vice president at FoodServiceWarehouse.com. "The Cereal Bowl is leading the growing trend of implementing green initiatives from day one, and in addition to cost savings, creating a loyal following of customers concerned about the environment."
