I used my original Onya BagTM every day for the school run, grocery shopping, trips to the library, weekend outings -- literally everything. I'm still using that bag today, three and a half years later. Besides a little dirt, it looks like I got it yesterday.

The U.S. reusable bag market welcomes a tough newcomer: Onya BagsTM. Onya BagsTM reusable bag solutions are designed to appeal to all ages and genders, and offer exceptionally high-quality reusable bags which are compact, lightweight, convenient, and always "on ya." Onya BagsTM are native to Australia, and since their unveiling in 2003, have grown in popularity across the globe to the United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada, New Zealand and now the United States via Onya Bags USA (http://www.onyabagsusa.com).
Onya BagsTM reusable bags have been introduced to the U.S. by Onya Bags USA's founder, Kristin Gasser. Gasser lived in the United Kingdom for two years and saw Onya BagsTM everywhere. When a friend gave her one as a gift, she was sold.
"Reusable bags have been a part of my life for over twenty years. But not until I had Onya BagsTM was I consistent in bringing and using my reusable bags," said Gasser.
"In the UK, I walked everywhere and always had to carry things," Gasser recalls. "I used my original Onya BagTM every day for the school run, grocery shopping, trips to the library, weekend outings -- literally everything. I'm still using that bag today, three and a half years later. Besides a little dirt, it looks like I got it yesterday."
Gasser was so impressed by Onya BagsTM that she contacted Onya headquarters in Australia, Onya Innovations, regarding a U.S. distributorship. After weeks of planning and negotiations and a move back to the U.S., Gasser established the new company in Grafton, Wisconsin, near Milwaukee.
Onya BagsTM were created with one goal in mind: Eliminate the use of plastic bags. From the design forward, Onya BagsTM reusable bags mimic the convenience of plastic without the waste. Made of durable, lightweight parachute fabric, Onya BagsTM are offered in several styles, sizes and colors, and each stuffs down into a tiny pouch that can clip onto your key ring.
Onya BagsTM' premise is that bulky cloth reusable bags are easy to forget. But Onya BagsTM, with their tiny "footprint," are always "on ya" -- on your keys, in the glove box, in your purse -- ensuring convenience which leads to increased use and decreased plastic bag waste.
Onya BagsTM were invented by Jon Brousson of Fremantle, Australia. Committed to reusable bags, but often finding that bulky canvas bags were easily left behind, Brousson set out to make a strong but highly portable reusable bag. Inspired by a hammock made of parachute fabric, Brousson designed Onya BagsTM to be heavy-duty but lightweight bags which could be stowed in an attached pouch and then clipped to a keychain.
In just five short years, Onya BagsTM popularity has grown exponentially. With humble origins at a market stall in Fremantle, Australia, Onya BagsTM high-quality has led to the sale of over 500,000 bags, potentially eliminating the use of well over 5 million plastic bags, a number that continues to grow as each Onya BagTM is reused.
"Based on statistical estimates, my one original Onya BagTM has kept me from consuming over 1,200 plastic bags in just three years. Imagine if we all used reusable bags, for all our shopping, for the rest of our lives. That's my vision, and that's why I started Onya Bags USA," said Gasser.
