University of Northern Kentucky Installs New Playing Court

Connor Sport Court and SMG partnered in providing court in time for new basketball season

Highland Heights, KY (PRWEB) October 12, 2008 -- The University of Northern Kentucky will begin basketball play this season on a brand new court manufactured and installed in a partnership between Connor Sport Court International and SMG, the world's largest sports facility management firm.

Installation of the playing surface will take place Oct. 13

New floor is 60 feet by 120 feet and is Connor's NCAA-approved Quicklock floor, said Ron Cerny, president and CEO of Connor.

Michael Godoy, executive director of operations of SMG based in Philadelphia, said the Quicklock floor was created for Northern Kentucky University in a joint venture utilizing SMG's purchasing power and Connor's established predominance in sports flooring.

"SMG and Connor have a valued relationship that enables us to bring these high quality NCAA tournament floors at a discount to our clients," said Godoy. SMG manages arenas and coliseums worldwide, on both an amateur and professional level.

Ron Davidson, Connor's director of portables, said Connor has also contributed 600 square feet of maple hardwood flooring for use in UNK's Hall of Fame. It will be a replica floor to provide authentic basketball court ambience.

Connor Sport Court is a member of the Maple Flooring Manufacturing Association and adheres to the strict environmental guidelines of that organization. Hardwood used in the courts is from a renewable resource, with the U.S. growing six times more hardwood than is harvested each year.

Connor Sport Court International is headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah. The company's hardwood manufacturing facility is in Amasa, Michigan, and is represented from offices in Arlington Heights, Illinois.

More athletic events are played on Connor Sport Court surfaces than on any other sports flooring in the world. Connor sports flooring have established themselves as the standard for professional and collegiate sports since the company was founded in 1872. Sport Court® is a registered trade mark of Connor Sport Court International. Since 1974, it has identified the original and authentic modular sport surface, continuously improved and patented to provide the highest levels of quality and performance.
